Pathways

“You make known to me the path of life;
   you will fill me with joy in your presence,
   with eternal pleasures at your right hand.” (Psalm 16:11)

Pathways and Perspective

Some of my favorite photos involve images with paths that disappear into the distance with a curve into the trees. The way that this perspective adds a bit of mystery and wonder to the image allows the viewers mind to fill in the blanks with what might be around the corner. Pictures that leave some mysteries are far more interesting than those that show everything to the viewer.

Paths of Life

When we approach life in such a manner to allow God to reveal our future a bit at a time instead of always wanting the answers to our tomorrow’s it can be much more exciting and interesting. By trusting God to make known to us the path of life we can experience joy and pleasure with Him and the more we choose to trust Him the less we need to fear what is around the next corner of life. This may be some of what the Psalmist was saying about the path being made known and being filled with joy in God’s presence.

Metaphors in Images

Look again at the image that I have posted today in light of the pathway of life, and you will see that it represents so much. There is the obvious pathway represented into the unknown mystery of what is around the corner. The road sign may represent directions for us to follow or hints as to what may be to come on our travels. Looking deeper, I see that the changing colors and fallen leaves show the changing of the seasons of life as we travel. There is life represented in the trees but also signs of death with the changing leaves. The roadway represents a smooth and designated pathway but the gravel alongside shows how straying from the smooth path would be a rough choice. Possibly the grassy area could be a place of rest in our travels. This is one of the things I love about photos and the things they can show us about life if we take the time with them and don’t rush past.

As you move along your pathway of life take the time to allow God to reveal your path one day at a time and trust Him for what is around the corner. Also, as the path is revealed capture some photos because it will help you remember and reflect on where God has brought you no matter what challenges have come.
