LONDON
There is nothing that can fully prepare one for the sensory overload that London brings to the traveler. One thousand years of history meets at the crossroads of a modern day city. Palaces and pubs, castles and cabs, along with the non-stop energy and crush of commuters making their way on hundreds of miles of intersecting rails. London is a city of layers and secrets just waiting to be discovered. It is my hope that these images can convey a glimpse of this amazing place and possibly inspire you to visit if you have never been.
Parliament from a Thames Uber Boat. When the sun breaks out in London in December you better take advantage because it won't last long!
Night shots of Parliament from the London Eye are something you certainly don't want to miss!
Another angle on Big Ben and Parliament from the London Eye.
London Tower Bridge taken on an evening boat ride heading down to Greenwich.
The London Tower Bridge is an architectural marvel. Be sure to take the inside tour if you ever travel to London.
The beauty of the London Tower Bridge from all angles never gets old.
At 138 years old, the Tower Bridge has stood the test of time as an iconic and beautiful landmark.
This image was taken from the London Tower side of the Thames River. She looks even more majestic in black and white!
Adding an angle to the black and white image of the Tower Bridge gives perspective on how massive this structure really is.
Color shot of the bridge from the London Tower side of the Thames.
Inside the London Tower Bridge you will find many interesting views.
The streets of London seem to really go with black and white. Maybe it's the weather or the architecture?
A visit to London is a street photography dream and quite fun when the color is drained.
The gritty side of the city.... I love the emotion and contrast of this empty stairs looking toward the busy street.
The gloomy skies of London provide such a backdrop for the hundreds of years old architecture of the city.
Morning London commute in black and white. Riding the Elizabeth Line toward Paddington Station.
The combination of the tree with the corner building and the people with their backs turned was powerful to me for some reason.
Ritz Hotel London. Another iconic building that needed black and white to do it justice.
I love the organized busyness of Paddington Station. It is a main crossroads of the city and a place I could simply sit for hours and people watch.
This image to me really captures the rush of one of the world's busiest cities.
Bond Street Station... one of the most beautiful in London in my opinion. Something about the way the curves and lines all work together.
London Eye in a rare moment of broken clouds. December in London is not normally a place you should expect any blue sky and in one week we saw approximately one hour in total.
Looking up the London Eye toward our adjacent car.
Walking off the London Bridge the double decker bus came by at just the right time to create an iconic moment.
Natural History Museum. This image is one of my favorites as it seems to create the illusion of a reflective floor even though it is taken from a second floor balcony.
Natural History Museum. This is the shot looking upward from the first floor of the main entrance hall.
Front of the Natural History Museum. Such a beautiful building at night.
A trip to London is not complete without heading out to the chaotic crush of Camden Marketplace. An amazing and endless array of food, shops, and entertainment.
Walking through Camden Market's famous horse stable shops.
An iconic moment standing in the middle of Picadilly... I waited for just the right moment to capture the double decker coming through the square.
Windsor Castle is certainly a must see on any trip to London. Still an active palace for the royalty there are no pictures allowed inside.
Windsor Castle and the town that surrounds it are simply stunning to see in person.
Windsor also looks great in black and white.
I snapped this image of a guard parade coming out of Windsor and upon examination I am wondering how the guy in the middle can see where he is going?
