Thankful

Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
    his love endures forever.” (1 Cor. 16:34)

Giving Thanks

This week with our upcoming national holiday where we set aside time specifically to be thankful and show gratitude to God for His blessing on our lives and our nation, I would like to take this opportunity to post about God’s blessings. The attached photo for today’s writing reminds me of provisions. As I looked at these flowers when I took this photo this past July, I am reminded again that these wildflowers are not beautiful because of their perfection. They are somewhat wilted from the heat of July and are somewhat random in their arrangement. These flowers are surviving because of the external provisions around them of water, soil, and light. Their beautiful appearance is not due to what they bring but more from the light that they are reflecting.

Reflection

Photography for me is an opportunity to attempt to show the goodness of God by capturing small slices of His creation to share with you. It is also a chance to slow down in my day long enough to observe the Lord’s hand as it holds all things together (Col. 1:17) and directs the course of nature. Whether a sunset or a waterfall, a mountain or a river the beauty is in seeing and being thankful for the Creator of all things. As 1 Corinthians 16:34 states, we are to “Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; his love endures forever.”

Blessings

My life is blessed with so much that there is not enough room in this blog post to fully list it all. I am thankful for God’s salvation, thankful for my family, for a wonderful career that helps to provide a home and food, the blessings of living in this nation where we still have freedom, and thankful for the ability God has given to do my best to create art for others to enjoy in my photography. This truly is only a small glimpse of what could be a very long list!

I hope that during this week of Thanksgiving that you are able to find some time to slow down and truly be thankful for what God has given you in your own life. Whether we are rich or poor, have many friends and family or just a few I believe that we can all be thankful even if it as simple as thanking God for our next breath and heartbeat. God is good.
