Reminders
“And God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant which I have established between Me and all flesh that is on the earth.” (Genesis 9:17)
Remembering
Often times it is in the most unlikely of moments that you should have a camera handy to capture beauty around you. For most of us we already have a camera ready in our phone. For me, that is still the case but being “ready” now actually means having a tripod handy and some extra accessory lenses along with additional phone apps to truly be ready to capture a moment in time. Just by remembering to keep my tools handy helps to not miss the kinds of unexpected opportunities like the photo above that only lasted about two minutes before the conditions changed.
What does God want us to remember?
The beautiful rainbow in the sky that we see captured here should cause us to remember God’s Covenant that he made with humanity in Genesis. With the placing of that rainbow, He made a promise to be faithful in never destroying the earth again by flood as happened in the account of Noah. God is indeed faithful to His promises to protect and provide and it is up to us to be faithful to Him and trust Him in all things.
Habits
It may seem like a small thing, but it is sometimes the small habits that can have big impact. Try to get in the habit of pausing in your busy life whenever you see a rainbow to thank God for His promises and His blessings. Just the fact that you have eyes to take in the beauty and the ability to take your next breath is a miracle. Don’t get so busy that you can’t pull the car over suddenly to take in the beauty of a rainbow as I unexpectedly did for this one!
One more thing… As you practice slowing down to take in the beauty of creation be sure to take some pictures as you go.
