Details

Sometimes an appreciation of God’s creation comes in the tiny details. It is easy in photography and in life to get caught up in the awe inspiring and the dramatic. It is often the big mountains and the grand sunsets or sunrises that dominate the focus of our camera. In life it is more often than not the big moments that we remember and want to talk about but lost in the highlights are the myriads of tiny moments and details that make up the larger. A photograph of a vast field of wildflowers on a mountainside may take one’s breath away but what about the individual flowers that make up that field or even a lowly flower in a decorative bed such as this one that I have highlighted today.

Luke 12:27 reminds us to “Consider how the wild flowers grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you, not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these.” The true beauty lies in the details of the petals and the pollenation, the drops of dew and the softness of scent. The creativity lies in the magical way a tiny seed can germinate and grow into something beautiful even without someone to cultivate it on a wild hillside.

As Summer moves into Fall I encourage you to take some time out to spend time outside to appreciate the flowers and observe the leaves as they start to change over the coming weeks. It truly is miraculous. As I often say… don’t forget to take some pictures along the way.

I hope your day has been joyful and you have been able to enjoy some memorable moments both big and small. God Bless.
