Covenant
“And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.” (Gen. 9:12-16)
Sometimes photos in the landscape show up in the simplest of ways at times you do not expect them and often they are a reminder of God’s goodness and faithfulness to His promises. Today was a day in which I thought the sunrise was going to be excellent and so I had gotten up very early to go to a place that I thought it would make for good shots and it turned out to be a morning in which there was no good opportunities for photos and so I packed up and came home to spend the day getting some home chores checked off my list and put away any thoughts of photos for another day.
Right as dinner was almost ready, this beautiful rainbow showed up unexpectedly so bright and beautiful visible from the back porch as a reminder to me that you just never know when the sky will change and reveal something beautiful and also a reminder that God is always faithful. Rainbows show their beauty right at the intersection of the light and the storm. Another thing I noticed as I observed this phenonoma in the sky is how utterly brief the opportunity is to enjoy the beauty. God wants us to be reminded of HIs covenant promise but we must be ready and willing to pause our busy lives for a moment and take it in or it will be missed.
Next time you see a rainbow in the sky, take a pause to enjoy the beauty and also take a moment to thank God for His promises and blessings. One more thing… bring a camera along and capture it so you can return to the moment again later.
I hope that you have a blessed day and have been able to find some moments to capture and enjoy even in the busyness of life such as this rainbow demonstrated to me this evening.
